Android 6.0 Marshmallow update finally unveiled and some already customized Android Marshmallow ROMs already outed for Moto X Play devices. However, you’d installed another custom rom outside Android marshmallow, and you wish to restore back to default lollipop stock firmware, then this guide would be of great help.
Furthermore, you can restore bricked Moto X Play device by flashing this Stock Lollipop firmware on it. Stay tuned, as I walk you through the process on how to install Stock Lollipop Recovery firmware in Moto X Play. However, this process is only applicable on Moto X Play with model numbers XT1562 or XT1563.
Required File to be downloaded:
Before you proceed, I advise you backup your files and data; you can flash rom from recovery if you’ve TWRP recovery installed on your Moto X Play. If your device is a bricked one, then skip and continue to the process below.
2. After that, enable USB debugging on your Moto X Play from developers option under settings. Skip this process if your device is a bricked one.
3. Now, download Motorola USB drivers on your computer, for easy communication between your device and computer.
5. After that, extract the files from the Stock lollipop firmware zip files, and move to the ADB and fastboot folder.
6. Next, switch off your device and boot to bootloader mode. To boot, simply press and hold volume down and the power button together for few seconds.
7. After that, connect your device to computer via USB cable.
8. Now, open the ADB and fastboot folder were you’d moved all those files boot, system logos and image files.
9. Once you open the folder, open command prompt windows. Simply hold shift and right click your mouse, then select “open command windows”.
10. Once you get to command windows, then input the below command to verify your device connectivity to PC
11. After that, input the below commands, and press enter for each command issued.
12. Once flashing process is completed, your device would be rebooted automatically.
Alternatively, you can boot your device to bootloader mode by issuing the below command, before proceeding to step 10.
adb reboot-bootloader
